Endeavour (A Sleeping Gods Novel Book 1), written by Ralph Kern

Welcome aboard the Endeavour, where the stakes are high, the adventures are countless, and the sci-fi vibes are so thick, you could cut them with a laser sword. Ralph Kern takes us on a ride through this first book in the Sleeping Gods series, and boy, it's a wild one!

Our story kicks off with a group of unlikely heroes, because who doesn't love a team that looks like they were picked out of a clearance bin? We meet our protagonist, an adventurous soul who decides that being ordinary is just too mainstream. Cue the sci-fi shenanigans! The crew, assembled with all the finesse of a half-eaten jigsaw puzzle, find themselves navigating the depths of space, where every turn brings a new crisis and a new opportunity to mess things up spectacularly.

As the plot unfolds, we quickly learn that space travel isn't just about avoiding asteroids and trying not to flirt with aliens. There are secrets, betrayals, and enough plot twists to make your head spin faster than a spaceship in a wormhole. Spoiler alert! (But seriously, there are no "oops, I didn't see that coming" moments here - it's all laid out before you).

The narrative dives deep into the unknown, exploring themes of loyalty and sacrifice, while simultaneously reminding you to never trust a character with an overly shiny spaceship. Otherworldly beings, existential dilemmas, and cosmic politics are thrown into the blender of destiny, resulting in a frothy mixture of drama and action.

As our ragtag team wars against the universe, we also see some glimpses of their backstories, because what's a space opera without a little angst? There are emotional moments tucked in between laser battles and escape plans! Our brave adventurers must confront not only external threats but also the emotional baggage that they insist on dragging along with them. Thanks, guys, we all love a good character arc.

The pacing is like a hyperdrive engine, making sure that you're always on the edge of your seat, or at least, the edge of your couch. Kern's writing style is engaging, making even the most convoluted space jargon sound like a casual chat at a coffee shop-if your coffee shop happened to be orbiting a distant planet.

In summary, if you're ready for a literary journey through the cosmos filled with quirky characters, nail-biting tension, and perhaps a few lessons in trusting the right (or wrong) people, then pick up Endeavour. Just remember: in space, no one can hear you scream about the lack of proper bathroom facilities on a spaceship. Enjoy the ride, just don't forget your space suit!

Classics, bestsellers, and guilty pleasures-none are safe from my sarcastic recaps. I turn heavy reads into lighthearted summaries you can actually enjoy. Warning: may cause random outbursts of laughter while pretending to study literature.
